The June STIR/SHAKEN implementation deadline for small, rural service providers is rapidly approaching – but is your company ready?

The 2019 Pallone-Thune Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence Act (TRACED Act) requires voice service providers to better police their networks against illegal and unwanted robocalls. Under the Act, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was directed to establish rules to require:

  • The implementation of the STIR/SHAKEN caller ID authentication protocol;
  • Robocall mitigation plans (RMPs) to alleviate the origination of suspected fraudulent robocalls;
  • Call blocking;
  • Tracing of the origin of suspected spoofed and illegal robocalls; and
  • Implementation of anti-robocall best practices.

To give small, rural carriers more time to implement STIR /SHAKEN, the FCC’s Second Report and Order included a limited extension of the implementation deadline for small voice service providers until June 30, 2023.

In light of this upcoming deadline, JSI will host an interactive webinar on this topic, entitled “The State of STIR/SHAKEN and Robocall Mitigation,” on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 2:00 pm (EDT). Notably, during this program, our team will cover a range of important topics, including:

  • An overview of STIR/SHAKEN, as well as its implementation and deployment;
  • Policy administration registration;
  • The FCC’s TDM-based STIR/SHAKEN solutions;
  • Required Robocall Mitigation Plan updates;
  • The next steps for TDM-only, IP and TDM, and IP-only networks; and
  • How JSI can help you successfully prepare for any changes to your network.
