Dan Carter, P.E., serves as Chief Technology Officer of JSI, where he leads the company’s technology strategy, innovation, product development, and AI initiatives. He partners closely with the executive leadership team to identify new growth opportunities, develop technology-enabled services, and align investments in software, platforms, and emerging technologies with JSI’s long-term strategic objectives.

Dan drives innovation by transforming the firm’s consulting and engineering expertise into scalable technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, strengthen client outcomes, and create new recurring revenue opportunities. He works across the organization to accelerate AI adoption, advance product and managed service development, and build strategic technology partnerships that position JSI for long-term growth and competitive differentiation.

Professional Experience and Accomplishments

Dan brings a unique combination of engineering expertise, entrepreneurial experience, executive leadership, and product innovation to his role at JSI. Throughout his career, he has worked across telecommunications, broadband, technology, and business consulting, helping organizations identify new opportunities, strengthen operations, and translate complex technical challenges into sound business strategies.

Before joining JSI, Dan served in senior leadership roles at Vantage Point Solutions and Finley Engineering, where his work included strategic initiatives, broadband planning, engineering and business consulting, funding strategies, and organizational growth. Earlier in his career, he held management positions at Raytheon and American Electric Power (AEP), served in executive leadership roles at Midland Group and TelStrat, and founded Infinitec Networks, a broadband access technology company later acquired by TelStrat.

Dan’s entrepreneurial background also includes founding Vanguard Communications and co-founding Valiant Communications in New Delhi, as well as operating an engineering consulting practice serving clients in communications, power electronics, and software. His experience building and leading businesses gives him firsthand insight into the challenges organizations face as they balance growth, investment, technology, operations, and customer needs.

A registered Professional Engineer licensed in multiple states, Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Tulsa. He is the inventor on multiple patents related to power and communications systems and has completed executive education in Strategic Marketing Management at Harvard Business School, along with advanced studies in business management and accounting.
