JSI Partners with Alabama Fiber Network to Provide Customized Network Operations Center

GREENBELT, Maryland — JSI, a leader in broadband engineering solutions, is launching a customized Network Operations Center (NOC) tailored specifically for the Alabama Fiber Network (AFN). This partnership will provide AFN improved support and response times for outage resolution, deliver a greater level of visibility and understanding of their network, and ultimately expand reliable fiber access to businesses and residents across the entire state of Alabama.

By leveraging 24/7 monitoring, customized alerts, and personalized reporting, JSI’s services will elevate AFN’s network performance. This will also create added resilience and heightened security as the state expands access to healthcare, education, and economic development for all Alabamians.

“We are honored to have been selected as one of the many trusted advisors and partners in Alabama’s statewide initiative to expand the offering of reliable, high-speed internet throughout the state. We look forward to supporting the network for years to come.” said Aaron Stroman, Senior Director of Network Operations at JSI.

“JSI’s adaptability and customized approach for creating a NOC aligned perfectly with AFN’s initial objectives and the unique challenges of deploying a statewide network.” said Terry Metze, AFN CEO.

AFN is currently undertaking a critical middle-mile broadband backbone project across the state, collaborating with eight electric cooperatives and partners. By establishing fiber optic cable interconnection points in both rural and urban areas, AFN is facilitating the rollout of the ‘Be Linked’ statewide broadband initiative by Gov. Kay Ivey and the Alabama Legislature.

The support of many local network providers has ensured construction of the network will be completed faster than typical projects of this size and scope. Upon completion, AFN will be one of the most comprehensive, state-based middle-mile networks in the United States.
