Outage Reporting for Clients Affected by Hurricane Debby

Outage Reporting for Clients Affected by Hurricane Debby

As Hurricane Debby continues to impact South Carolina with significant flooding and outages, many providers are responding to the storm.

As a result, the Federal Communications Commission has officially activated its voluntary Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS), which wireline, wireless, broadcast, VoIP and satellite providers must use to report communications infrastructure status.

Providers serving the South Carolina counties listed below can report communications system updates for the duration of the activation. For DIRS participants, Network Outage Reporting System (NORS) reporting obligations are suspended for the duration of the DIRS activation in the identified counties below.

Affected Counties:

Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dillon, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, Jasper, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Marion, Marlboro, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter, and Williamsburg.

Providers who have voluntarily registered in DIRS will receive email notification of the system activation and can report network status if they are in the geographic areas listed above. To access DIRS, please log in at https://www.fcc.gov/nors/disaster/Login. Providers should include emergency contact, communications infrastructure status, situational awareness and restoration information. Companies reporting in DIRS for the first time can enroll here.

The FCC may add or remove counties over the next few days depending on the storm.
