Webinar: Plotting Your Success: How to Prepare for the Upcoming HUBB and BDC Deadlines

The annual High Cost Universal Broadband (HUBB) filing deadline and the second semi-annual Broadband Data Collection (BDC) deadline are rapidly approaching.

Carriers receiving support from Connect America Fund (CAF) programs with fixed broadband buildout obligations have until March 1, 2023, to file their year-end 2022 deployment data in the Universal Service Administrative Company’s (USAC’s) HUBB portal. Carriers with 2022 deployment milestones must also complete milestone certifications as part of the annual HUBB filing and will face verification reviews tied to those milestones.

The BDC filing – a granular report showing all maximum advertised speeds per location – is also due on March 1, 2023, and the BDC system is scheduled to open for filings on December 31, 2022. The BDC filing will help the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) to create a comprehensive database of serviceable locations where fixed broadband Internet access service is available.

Although the industry has become much more familiar with the HUBB and BDC programs since their inception dates, reporting individual locations remains a monumental task.

To help you and your company file these reports accurately and in a timely manner, JSI hosted an interactive webinar and in-depth discussion on this topic, entitled “Plotting Your Success: How to Prepare for the Upcoming HUBB and BDC Deadlines,” on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 2:00 pm (EST).

During this program, our team discussed a range of important subjects, including:

  • Key HUBB and BDC statistics and trends;
  • The final deployment year for CAF Broadband Loop Support (BLS);
  • The “all done” button;
  • Preparing for the inevitable USAC location verifications;
  • Strategic differences between BDC and HUBB;
  • Lessons learned from the first semi-annual BDC collection process;
  • Tips and best practices for completing the BDC filing; and
  • Mechanisms for correctly tracking subscriber reporting associated with the BDC.
