JSI-MD Completes Annual Holiday Toy Drive Benefiting Toys for Tots

JSI’s Greenbelt, Maryland headquarters recently completed its seventeenth annual toy drive for the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, which once again resulted in hundreds of Christmas gifts being donated to economically disadvantaged children in the area.

Each year, JSI organizes and operates its seasonal toy drive in conjunction with the local Prince George’s County Police Department as well as the Prince George’s County Toys for Tots campaign. All gifts collected by JSI are then distributed to children in need throughout Prince George’s County, where JSI’s Greenbelt is located.

Through the generous donations and support of numerous parties, JSI’s Greenbelt team was able to provide Toys for Tots with almost a truckload of unwrapped gifts for children of all ages, which included bicycles, assorted games, dolls and action figures, educational books and supplies, backpacks, and sports equipment, among other items.

The 75-year-old Toys for Tots program was first launched in 1947 by US Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, and it is currently led by the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity based in Triangle, Virginia.

According to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, the principal goal of the Toys for Tots program is to deliver Christmas gifts, as well as messages of hope and joy, to America’s less fortunate children. To date, the program has successfully distributed more than 627 million gifts to over 281 million children.
